After the 1-0 win last night, Sir Alex Ferguson looked like a manager who knew that the job was only half done but quite secure in the knowledge that the half done was probably the hardest half.

Speaking to the media, following the game that was settled by a lone Rooney strike, Sir Alex enthused about his strikers` contribution whilst also praising the overall performance from his side.

First the praise for Rooney,

“Wayne Rooney was in tremendous form and has given us a great opportunity to get to the semi-final.

“His work-rate and desire was a marvelous.”

“He got a lot of abuse and lot of late tackles but he got on with it and played well.”

And then the accolades for the team,

“It is just halfway but we have got the advantage.”

“The biggest advantage we will have now is Old Trafford and our support on Tuesday.”

“It will be absolutely fantastic, an electric atmosphere and I`m looking forward to that. I thought our players were great here.”

The team deserves great credit. Keeping a clean sheet was important.”

It was allied with a bit of stoppage time luck I`d say!
