When a Sunday tabloid ran an article implying that Sir Alex Ferguson was going to make an attempt to lure the recently released Chelsea player, Michael Ballack, to Old Trafford, we just couldn`t resist using it as a poll suggestion.

Ballack, currently out injured with an ankle injury sustained in the FA Cup Final and causing him to miss South Africa 2010, is looking for a new club and although a return to the German League is a probability, we wanted to know if you thought he`d make a viable transfer target for Manchester United.

Despite his obvious class and experience, the general consensus of opinion, amassing 65% of the vote, was that he would not be a viable transfer target. Presumably you thought his age would count against him.

But, 28% were all for signing Ballack, seeing his class and experience as providing Manchester United with something currently lacking.

Those prepared to sit on the fence and offer a verdict neither one way of the other, opting for the not sure option accounted for the remaining 7% of the vote.
