I can`t help pondering whether Sir Alex smiled, frowned or just threw his hands in the air when he watched Steven Gerrard possibly gift Chelsea the Premier League title.

It certainly was a surreal moment and a moment when all those conspiracy theories resurfaced.

After the game, Sir Alex spoke about that moment, explaining,

“I just saw it after the game. It was a great gift. There is nothing you can do about it. You just have to get on with it.”

But with Chelsea now firm favourites, Sir Alex was realistic enough to admit that a United title triumph is highly unlikely now, admitting,

“You never know what can happen. Football is a crazy game.”

“Manchester City did us a great turn by beating Chelsea twice and Wigan are another neighbour, but listen; we know we are clutching at straws a little bit.”

And as for our final fixture, Sir Alex can but hope and pray,

“All we can do is win our game against Stoke.”

“Obviously I would not insult Wigan in any shape or form because they are a really good football team and they will have a go. But the important thing is for us to win our game and enjoy it.”

I can`t help feeling it would be far more enjoyable if us and Chelsea entered the final game on a level playing field instead of us being a point behind, thanks Stevie G!
