News has broken that Manchester United could be without their centre-back, Eric Bailly, for up to three months.

Bailly, and Ivory Coast international, was the first player signed by Jose Mourinho when he took over the managerial role from the axed Louis van Gaal, signing for £30 million back in 2016, from Villarreal, requires surgery to correct an ankle injury.

The centre-back has been out of action since the 1-0 defeat against Chelsea, at Stamford Bridge, on 5 November.

Talking to the clubs` own TV station, Mourinho confirmed,

‘He goes to surgery, the decision is made.

Mourinho then went on to discuss how injuries have hit his centre-back positions this season, further adding,

‘During the whole season, we’ve had problems with central defenders but because the number is four or five, we manage always to have players available.”

Here`s hoping that 23-year-old Bailly is a quick healer and makes a swift return.
