Having sold the majority of his personal memorabilia collection, related to his career, Nobby Stiles saw one last possession go under the auctioneers hammer yesterday.

England`s 1966 World Cup victory, over West Germany, remains the pinnacle of our nations achievements on the international stage and one vivid memory always stands out as the players celebrate do the Wembley pitch – the famous Stiles jig!

Well yesterday the shirt Nobby was wearing on that famous day, in 1966, was auctioned in London and achieved a price of £75,000.

Unfortunately, there is no indication of who the buyer was and although we were thankful that Manchester United purchased some of Nobby`s prize possessions, at his other auction; we fear this particular national treasure may well have been purchased by someone from abroad!

Let`s hope not!
