Something that has been well-documented by both the media and Vital Manchester United, is the pursuit of the Swedish centre-back Victor Lindelof.

The 22-year-old defender, currently on the books of the Portuguese outfit Benfica, seemed destined for Old Trafford until further speculation implied that AS Roma may try and persuade the player to move to Italy.

Today though, the pendulum appears to have swung back in Manchester United`s favour with the Italian media vehicle, calciomercato, picking up on something another news source, has been championing.

It seems that the inference being peddled is that Manchester United have moved quickly to head of the suggestion that Lindelof might be persuaded to move elsewhere, with AS Roma and Paris St-Germain both getting a mention, by securing a pre-contract agreement with Benfica.

This week, with the Champions League action back in full swing, Lindelof gave a decent display, showing why he is so highly rated, by helping Benfica to a 1-0 win over Borussia Dortmund.
