United Set To Raid London For Defensive Duo

|

With a squad rebuild set to be undertaken this summer, we’re expecting some frantic activity in the transfer market.

The need for change has been highlighted by Manchester United’s dismal finish to the season, a finish that saw them fail to achieve a Champions League qualification place and instead having to settle for a spot in the Europa League.

One area that has constantly been under the microscope as being in need of urgent attention is the defence.

Today, one newspaper, the Sun, is reporting that Manchester United are set to make a swoop on Crystal Palace for two full backs who have been impressive in the Premier League.

The duo in question are Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Patrick Van Aanholt.

Wan-Bissaka burst onto the scene with last season with a series of impressive displays and the 21-year-old is tipped to have a great future.

Van Aanholt, more experienced at 28-years-of-age, has graced the top-flight with Chelsea, Sunderland and more latterly Palace.

A fee of £50 million is mentioned as the price United would be willing to pay for the duo, which, in the modern game, seems to be quite reasonable.

However, are they the kind of players you feel the club needs to close the gap between us and the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City who were in a class of their own this season?

I’m not so sure they are!
