Manchester United might, thanks to the actions of one of our rivals for his signature, have received a huge hand in bringing Antoine Griezmann to Old Trafford.

Several new agencies, including the red-top publication, The Mirror, are reporting that Barcelona may face sanctions from FIFA for an alleged illegal approach for the player who is currently on the books of Atletico Madrid.

It seems that in their haste to sign the 26-year-old French striker, Barcelona have been holding meetings with Griezmann`s family, obviously extolling the virtues of a move to the Nou Camp.

Atletico have reported Barcelona and the Catalan club could face a second transfer ban if FIFA deem that the rules have been broken.

Manchester United were heavily linked with the acquisition of Griezmann in the summer transfer window but the possibility of a deal came to an abrupt halt.

Could Barcelona`s foolishness spark a bid from Manchester United to meet the £100 million buy-out clause in the striker`s contract?
