It must be at least seventy-two hours since there`s been any mention of David de Gea`s future by the media.

Perhaps the fact the closing of the transfer window has stifled their appetite for gossip.

But, you just knew it wouldn`t last for ever didn`t you!

Today, the good folk of the news source The Independent, have generated some column inches relating to de Gea`s future.

Our aforementioned source is of the opinion that Manchester United are set to open contract talks with the 26-year-old Spaniard.

The theory being that with de Gea`s current contract running out in 2019, Manchester United want to prevent Real Madrid from snaring the goalkeeper when he enters the last year left on his deal.

Our view is that if de Gea is receptive to talk relating to a deal then he views the remaining years of his contract as being with Manchester United, if he`s not receptive then????well we all know the outcome.
