Tonight Old Trafford will pay homage to Wayne Rooney with our captain being rewarded for his long service with a testimonial fixture.

The opponents for the testimonial, chosen by Wayne, are his former club Everton.

A full house is expected to celebrate Rooney`s time with Manchester United and with all proceeds from the game going to the Wayne Rooney Foundation, it`s great to see the trend continuing whereby those who have been paid handsomely for doing the job they love use this particular windfall to help a worthwhile cause.

However, tonight sees a first!

The game will be streamed live on the social network site, Facebook, meaning that up to 1.7 billion people can tune in, from 19:30 UK time, to watch the action, the game will be the first between two Premier League sides to be streamed in this fashion.

Talking about this innovative breakthrough Rooney is attributed as having remarked,

“I am delighted that through this agreement with Facebook my testimonial game will be streamed globally.

“It will hopefully help raise awareness of the Foundation and increase donations.”

And as for a few words, ahead of the testimonial, from the gaffer, Jose Mourinho had this to say,

“Wayne has provided many memorable goals and performances in his time here and I am sure he will provide many more for United in the coming years.”

It promises to be an entertaining spectacle tonight, thanks for the loyal service Wayne, here`s hoping there`s many more years to come.
