Having come off the bench, to a mixed reception, the prodigal son, Wayne Rooney, is set to start against Glasgow Rangers, in the Champions League, this week.

The group fixture, on Wednesday, at Ibrox, will see Rooney make his first start since those tumultuous comments outraged so many.

Speaking about the impending re-birth of Rooney following on from his re-introduction yesterday (Saturday), Sir Alex Ferguson had this to say,

“I`m pleased for Rooney, it will settle him down and show him that he`s at the right club.”

“It was a quiet return for him, he got involved in a few things, but he will start against Rangers on Wednesday. He will play 90 minutes, it`s the perfect chance.”

It promises to be an interesting evening, as we`re sure the Rangers support will, no doubt, offer a few words of advice to the striker!
