Tonight it`s widely expected that Wayne Rooney, up at Ibrox, will make his first start for Manchester United since the shenanigans relating to his recent contract saga.

Naturally, the player is raring to go and is keen to, finally, get his season started, albeit a couple of months behind everyone else.

But one thing continues to bug Wayne and that being the implication that his new deal was negotiated merely to up his sale price sometime in the future, it`s something that Wayne has chosen to comment on, in the build up to the Champions League fixture against the Scottish champions with Wayne remarking,

“I`ve heard from different people that I`ve agreed a new deal so the club can agree a higher price with a different team somewhere along the line, which is a load of rubbish.”

“I`ve signed a new deal here to stay here. My long term future is here at Manchester United.”

“I can understand the fans` frustration with the contract negotiations and it happened in the public eye, which made it more difficult.”

“But the main thing for myself and the club is that we managed to agree a new deal.”

Although perhaps we should add, a costly new deal!
