This time last week the inference, from the tabloid press, was that Fabio Capello was thinking, seriously, about dropping Wayne Rooney from the England side tonight.

Having not scored since March 30th, it would appear that a penalty, dispatched against West Ham, has changed his thoughts, along with a half decent performance as well, with Capello now remarking, at a press conference held at the England hotel in Hertfordshire,

“I checked on him during his last game against West Ham. He is good, he is back.”

“I`m happy because he is scoring goals. It is always important for forwards to score for confidence. He will play with style.”

Rooney to be the first scorer anyone?
