United Prepare To Break the World Record Transfer Fee For A Defender Again

|

If the speculation in the media this morning is based on solid foundations, it could very well see Manchester United bring another high-priced defender to the club.

After bringing Harry Maguire to the club and in doing so breaking the world record transfer fee for a defender, one news source we stumbled upon, The Birmingham Mail, is championing the inference that Ole Gunnar Solksjaer would quite like to pair Maguire with the Portuguese international defender, Ruben Dias.

Our source is reporting that Manchester United sent scouts to watch the defender play a key part in Benfica’s 4-0 win over Braga, at the weekend.

But, as we may have hinted earlier, the 22-year-old won’t come cheap with Benfica having inserted an £80 million release clause in his contract.

You can find out the odds on this and so much more on these football betting sites.

It remains to be seen if this piece of transfer speculation does come to fruition, but would welcome a move for Ruben Dias with the international defender forming a central defensive partnership with Harry Maguire?

    Adding the caliber of Diaz to the present s squad is a welcome development for this season and many seasons to come. In essence,he’s needed to prepare the team for many laurels to come. United we stand GGMU

  • IAM BEAST says:

    We should have done this before the window closed we all knew our strikers midfield and half the defence aren’t good enough for United now we’re going to Finnish in the lowest place since the premier league started 10th if were lucky and lcfc will beat us they will Finnish much higher than us and have a better manager and better team what the hell has happened to our great club this is what happens when money means more than football at any clud

    I think that would be a stupid move for united. He is a good defender I know but lindelof is good enough if united signs another defender instead of a midfielder or attacker it would be a stupid move!

  • Iceboy says:

    lindelof is an average football. he ends up always been exposed by area balls. I think he is not strong and solid enough for the premier league

    Not good enough

    I would like man utd to buy competent striker in January and two capable attacker like Jadon sancho ,this time around we need replacement in striker role, midfielder, and attacker before defender in other to compete for top four without this I don’t see man utd with this our present squad reach top four

  • Kaps says:

    At this juncture what is the door need is to strengthen the midline and a classic centre forward rather than defenders. Tuanzabe, diago dalot , Wan bissaka, Harry Bailly , Luke Shaw, lieddloff are good enough to give a defensive line. The dire need remains for playmakers and a classic striker who can convert

    Man utd don’t need a defnder,but we need some one to partner paul pogba and a clinical striker in order to succeed

    It would kill Lindelof alot as he has already started adapting to the style of play at United and is coping well, replacing him with Diaz again from the same benfica an average league would be a disaster and piling defenders instead of strenghthening the midfield area.

    BULL SHIT… STOP HOAX!!!

    I think @manchesterunited need a world class striker and a classy midfielder.Defense of @manchesterunited is solid already.

  • Isaac says:

    Conceeding four goals in three consecutive matches hints on defensive weaknesses, either by way of player qualities or defensive disorganization. Whatever the problem may, be there is need to fix it quickly! I do not know if Diaz is truly ‘world class’. If so I think United needs his services in light of what has happened in the EPL so far. Unfortunately, however, his coming if decided won’t be of immediate help and yet the problem needs to be fixed now

    Will be great to have another solid defender to strengthen to team.. we competent players who’s willing and able to take utd back to the top.. we are a top team we don’t belong at 8th and 6th .. top four is our goal winning the epl .. so welcome Diaz if the transfer manifest..

    U are right. Get rid of Pogba n Rashford too. All will be fine. MU will rise again

  • Godisred says:

    All summer long, I prayed and waited to hear we’d
    1• strengthened the spine of the team with quality, experience and attitude;
    2• given promising youngsters more opportunities;
    3• offloaded the passengers and began phasing out older (but still squad-worthy) players;
    4• provided a new blueprint for contracts, heavily based on performance with more modest basic salaries (to prevent the release of underperforming players), even if that meant potentially better overall deals for players we want to keep, including first-option ‘dibs’ and sell-on clauses for all players at or reaching 27 before their contract expired; and
    5• provided a clear playing style policy, including the promotion of academy players (so the likes of Moyes, van Gaal and Mourinho couldn’t, in the future state they didn’t know what was expected of a United manager, also ensuring they pushed the academy coaches to DEVELOP young players – essential before recruiting a Director if Football, who naturally would LEAD the manager recruitment team in the future).

    All the elements seemingly not in place at the club.

    SUCCESSES:
    • Maguire, James & Wan-Bissaka came in,
    • Pogba, Mata retained for one more season,
    • Tuanzebe brought back,
    • Chong, Garner, Gomes, Greenwood given playing time;
    • Lukaku, Sanchez, Darmian moved on;

    FAILURES
    • DIAS, Partey, Haller, Tierney, Fernandes, Pepe and cheaply available Luiz NOT recruited,
    • De Gea contract issue unresolved, should have signed or left before August (contract expiring), replace with JAN OBLAK or play Romero, if only for 1 season – he’s earned it, and
    • Smalling left ahead of Jones & Rojo (still here) WITHOUT DIAS or Ibrahima Konaté coming in.
    • No news on 4 & 5, but at least Ole seems to have 5 in his sights, though it should be a decision made above him.

    Long way to go – never mind the eventual BIG ONE, Jim Ratcliffe leading a new Red Knights/MUST consortium to include 49% ‘proven supporters’ ownership to rescue the club from the Glazers, who have overseen more than a £2bn swing in club investment, when compared to Manchester City since their takeover.

  • Lucky Chansa says:

    I have been watching MU for a long time. Please call a spade a spade and not a spoon. With Rashford we are not going any where, finishing between 7 & 10 will be by the Grace God. With defence just get Ake , the partnership with Marquire can be perfect
