The injury worries of a certain Michael Owen continue to plague his career.

After missing a large chunk of last season Owen has seen his fitness interrupted this season by a string of minor injuries.

Owen was expected to be in the starting eleven last night but picked up a muscle injury in training, although it should be acknowledged that this injury was a different one to that which saw him sidelined after the 0-0 draw at Sunderland in early October.

Speaking about this latest setback Owen has commented,

“It`s not going great. I had a bit of a tight groin a while ago and I`ve trained for a week preparing for last night`s game (Wolves) but then I had a setback.”

“Unfortunately that ruled me out for last night (Wolves) and will rule me out for a few weeks as well.”

“I got injured in the cup final and then subsequently this season I was in the squad for the first 10 games or so.”

“But unfortunately, because of a training ground injury the other day, I`m going to be out for the next few weeks, which is disappointing.”

“It`s all part and parcel of football. Everyone gets injured. Hopefully I can come back and be as strong as ever.”

Would it be churlish to suggest that last line has been used on more than the odd occasion by Michael!
