He may have scored twice up at Glandford Park but there`s a real possibility that Michael Owen will once again not be in the starting line-up this weekend when we visit Bolton.

However, speaking to the tabloid press, Michael accepts that he is likely to get some much coveted match time with United set to enter a busy period whereby Champions League and Carling Cup games supplement the hectic Premier League schedule, when he remarks,

“It was a good workout at Scunthorpe and we`re glad to go through as some big teams went out.”

“There were a lot of players there who needed that first – some coming back from injury and some who hadn`t played, so it as beneficial.”

“We`re into the period now where the Champions League and Carling Cup have started, and obviously, there`s league games.”

“I`m sure there will be a lot more games coming thick and fast now.”

Exactly, football has evolved in recent years and it is more readily accepted that it is a squad game, although listening to the twaddle that comes out of Eastlands the message obviously hasn`t reached them yet!
