Rumours abound that as well as looking for a long term replacement for Edwin Van der Sar, United are also looking for aback-up keeper for the new incumbent of the role between the sticks.

One red-top is quite sure that the new back-up to the new number one (if you get what I mean) will be the Glasgow Rangers keeper, Allan McGregor.

The red-top is reporting that United have watched the lad in action several times and that Martin Ferguson was sent to watch him play in Rangers recent defeat against Hibernian.

A fee of £7 million is being mentioned which, to us, seems a hell of a lot to pay for a back-up keeper considering we`ve not located a first choice replacement for Edwin yet!
