United Must Not Fall Into A French Trap

|

In recent weeks we’ve discussed the long-term future of David de Gea.

The possibility of the Spaniard leaving has, in my view, increased dramatically.

The days of Real Madrid looking to sign the 28-year-old may have gone but de Gea appears to be engineering his own departure with his excessive pay demands in relation to signing a new deal.

As a result, the French outfit Paris Saint-Germain have emerged as the favourites to secure his services.

But, according to the media vehicle, the Express, Paris Saint-Germain are set to go about acquiring de Gea in something of a sneaky fashion.

With the French club wary of the Financial Fair Play Regulations, they’ve hatched a plot where they want de Gea to remain at Old Trafford for another season, following which the Spaniard will then be a free agent.

Paris Saint-Germain will then offer de Gea a massive signing on fee and a salary to match, knowing they will have saved £60 million on a transfer fee.

However, I can’t see Manchester United being so gullible, can you?

Surely, faced with such a sneaky plan, the club would prefer to lose de Gea now, quite probably to the highest bidder.

Sell De Gea now rather than lose him on a free later. Sell Rashford and Pogba also. The prices being touted for them will more than adequately secure good replacements for them. Joao Felix, Bruno Fernandes, Reuben Dias, Daniel James, De Ligt, Ndombele and Cancelo will do very nicely. Take Dean Henderson back from Sheffield United; he’s a great keeper, young and ambitious. There you go!
