Earlier this week we ran a front-page article that covered the fact that a recent survey showed that Manchester United led the way when it came to shirt sales.

From what I can remember, United`s share of the shirt sale market was considerably higher than all off our competitors.

Today it has been revealed that the current black away kit is the biggest selling away kit in the clubs` history.

Although it must be recalled that we`ve had some shockers over the years, shirts that bamboozled the supporters as to why they were ever sanctioned.

But, if the current black shirt is the best-selling away shirt the club have ever had, it may well have contributed to the financial figures released today that show that revenue, for the first quarter, was up by 17.3% to £141 million

However, another aspect of the results showed that there had been an increase of 12.2% in wage costs, which reached £69.9 million, although it is pointed out that this was largely due to bonuses earned for Champions League qualification.
