With less than a week to go until the January transfer window closes, it’ll be interesting to see how it unfolds with regards to Manchester United’s involvement.

I doubt very much whether we’ll see any big-name signings arrive but there could be one or two players who are allowed to leave.

Today, lurking in the pages of the news source, Goal, is the inference that somebody, who was once our record buy, could be headed for the Old Trafford exit.

Juan Mata, as we may have mentioned before, is out of contract in the summer and has yet to agree to a new deal with the club.

Aware of that fact, our referenced source is reporting that the Spanish giants, Barcelona, are interested in acquiring the services of the midfielder.

For Mata, who hasn’t been a first-team regular under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, it could be the dream move, with the Spaniard given the opportunity to shine back in his homeland.

Here at Vital Manchester United, we’ll endeavour to keep an eye out for any further developments and report back as deemed appropriate.
