United man recalls his first goal for the club

|

Luke Shaw scored in Manchester United’s last Premier League game against Bournemouth at Old Trafford, which was a goal that was similar to Dimitar Berbatov’s goal all those years ago against Blackburn, where the Bulgarian scored a remarkable five goals that day in a 7-1 win.

Shaw’s goal against the Cherries was just his fourth in a Man United kit as he scored for the Reds against Leicester City, Derby County, Manchester City and recently against Bournemouth [Transfermarkt].

His latest goal was his second at Old Trafford, with his first goal at the Theatre of Dreams coming against Leicester City, who had United captain, Harry Maguire in their ranks that day, and Shaw can vividly remember his first goal for United as he explained to the club’s official media team [via Man Utd].

“I hadn’t scored, so it’s always on your mind that you want to try and get your first goal as soon as possible really,” he said.

“I had to wait a long time and it came at a good time for me really, here [at Old Trafford], in front of the Stretford End, my home ground, to win the game.

“Like I said, [it was] my first one, so it was a really nice moment for me and my family, and for me to get off the mark finally” [via Man Utd].

The United left-back has been in brilliant form for the Reds over the festive period as he showed his versatility filing in at centre-back for the team, and he will be hoping to continue his good form as United have a challenging month ahead.

First up for Erik ten Hag’s side is a Carabao Cup clash against Charlton Athletic before Premier League clashes against Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Arsenal in the space of 8 days.
