With Rio Ferdinand and Anderson coming back into contention for selection this weekend, United have lost the services of Michael Carrick.

Carrick, who featured in the Community Shield victory over Chelsea but hasn`t made a Premier League start this season is out for three weeks due to an Achilles tendon injury.

Speaking about the injury, Sir Alex had this to say to the media,

“He should be out for three weeks, maybe a month at most.”

“It has been bothering him for a few weeks, so we sent him to a specialist in London and he had an injection.”

“We`re hoping that settles it down.”

“We have been considering what we should do about it. The best thing is to get it treated and out of the road now because everyone in the squad is fit.”

Here`s hoping that the injection does the trick and that Carrick returns to the fold ft and raring to go.
