Manchester United`s search for a world-class defender has thrown up another scenario in the press this morning.

According to the good folk of the Express, Manchester United are, possibly, set to move in on a defender who has long been linked with a move to Chelsea.

The defender in question is the Juventus player Alex Sandro.

Sandro was the subject of several bids, by Chelsea, in the summer, but Juventus resisted making a sale, even though speculation suggested Chelsea offered somewhere in the region of £60 million for the player.

However, it seems that the 26-year-old could now be available for a move in the January transfer window after what is being described by the media as a drop in form.

But, if that is the case then Juventus are still looking for a sizeable fee for the player, said to be in the region of £60 million.

We`ll keep an ear out for any further developments and report back as deemed necessary.
