A local news source is of the opinion that Manchester United are looking towards Italy for a midfield recruit.

With Michael Carrick having not played for Manchester United since September 20, after having a heart procedure, the Manchester Evening News is championing the suggestion that Manchester United are looking at the Napoli midfielder Jorginho.

Jorginho, just 26-years-of-age, is a holding midfielder who has also been capped by Italy.

This season he has started in 15 of Napoli`s 18 Serie A games, during which he has scored 2 and provided 3 assists.

However, if Manchester United are able to bring the midfielder to Old Trafford in the January transfer window, he won`t be able to participate in United`s Champions League campaign having featured for Napoli in the competition already this season.

Here at Vital Manchester United we`ll keep a watchful eye out for any developments on this piece of speculation.
