The transfer window may be closed but transfer tittle-tattle continues to provide some interesting rumours.

The latest piece of speculation to catch our eyes relates to a possible addition to the central defender ranks at Old Trafford.

Our associates at the best-selling red-top publication, The Mirror, are suggesting that Manchester United are looking towards the Midlands for a summer transfer acquisition.

The player, according to our referenced source, Manchester United are after is the Leicester City centre-back Harry Maguire.

Maguire, just twenty-four-years-of-age, has strung together a series of impressive performances for The Foxes and has attracted the attention of the Manchester United scouting network.

As for a price, our aforementioned source is of the opinion that Leicester City would want £50 million for their asset which, these days, appears to be the going rate for a classy defender.

Naturally, as you`d expect, Manchester United have rivals for the player in the shape of our neighbours, Manchester City, who appear to be on a quest to purchase every decent defender that might become available.

Here at Vital Manchester United we`ll monitor the situation and report back any further developments.
