United Linked With Argentine Midfielder But Face A Huge Fight To Secure His Signature

|

We’re approaching the time of the year when transfer speculation hits a peak.

For us, amateur hacks it is the opportunity to latch onto the tittle-tattle and air an opinion or two.

With Manchester United having already indicated that Ole Gunnar Solksjaer will be given a large transfer fund to rebuild the side, this summer, we know there’s going to be no shortage of names put forward as potential candidates to come to Old Trafford.

Today, lurking in the pages of the news vehicle, the Daily Mail, is the inference that Manchester United are set to join in the race to sign the 23-year-old Argentine midfielder, Giovani lo Celso, from Real Betis.

The player, who enjoyed an impressive season with Real Betis, scoring 16 goals in all competitions, is said to have attracted scouting attention from numerous clubs with Real Madrid, Tottenham and United all getting honourable mentions.

But it seems that Tottenham Hotspur are the ones who are ready to set the ball rolling with our quoted source implying the North London side has opened the chase for the players’ signature with an offer of £52.8 million.

Sat here in the editorial chair, I’ve no doubt that Giovani lo Celso would be a great addition to the side, any player who can score 16 goals, from a midfield position, would be an asset. But and it is a big but, with Real Madrid in the running United face a tough challenge to persuade the player Old Trafford should be his next move, even more so with the lack of Champions League on offer.

Grab Lo Celso if we can. Bye bye, Pogba. Bruno Fernandes also if possible to gel with Joao Felix and Ruben Dias in defence.
