Several Sorces are stating tonight that United veteran Ole Gunnar Solskjear has decided to hang up his boots following a knee injury.

The United ace has been dogged by injury in the past few seasons, in aprticular with his troublesome knee, and it was expected he would continue on for one more season, as a strong aprt of United’s current 4-man strike force after netting over 10 times last season.

If the reports are true, it is a sad day for Manchester United F.C, as we see a true fans favourite, a hero, who’s aruably most important contribution came in that memorable night in 1999, where he notched a last minute winner to win the Champions League, and go on to complete a truely memorable double, leave our club.

The 34 year old has had 11 memorable years at Old Trafford and will always be remebered by the fans, with chants of ‘Solskjear, my only Solskjear’ sure to echoe the walls of Old Trafford for years to come.

He was appointed a club ambassador last year – a role he is expected to continue and develop – and could well be given a long-term coaching position at the club though nothing is yet confirmed.

In the long-term Solskjear is sure to be a miss, but in the short term Solskjears retirement could spell trouble for United, and the loss of the man who Sir Alex Ferguson once described as ‘the best finisher at the club’ would leave them with just 3 strikers, one of which is new to the club and settling in, the other who is extremly injury prone and unreliable and the other who is sidelined for at least another month.

Could this lead to Sir Alex re-visiting the transfer market just days after he said he would’nt?
