Whilst the press seems adamant that Wayne Rooney will be leaving Manchester united with the only debate being about when it is likely to happen, it`s interesting to note that two key managerial figures believe he will eventually stay at Old Trafford.

Interestingly, one of these is a certain Jose Mourinho who the tabloids believe will be at the front of the queue to try and lure him away from Old Trafford. Mourinho, settling nicely into his new surroundings after leaving Inter Milan at the tail end of last season, believes Sir Alex Ferguson will put a grand-fatherly arm around Wayne and convince him to stay, remarking in the tabloid media,

“I don`t think he will become available, the big man will persuade him to stay.”

Whilst one of our key Premier League rivals, Arsene Wenger, remains convinced that Rooney perceives Old Trafford as his natural habitat and will remain one of its humble servants for years to come, commenting,

“He will stay because it is his club. He could say ‘Old Trafford is my home, I will stay`. And Manchester United would turn up with the right number. He knows that, they know that.”

“I am convinced he will stay at Manchester United. Because it is his club. They have the power to keep him.”

“What I know is that today there are only three or four clubs who can buy Rooney.”

And it doesn`t take too many guesses to work out who they are now does it!
