United Jumped The Gun And Beat Me To It

|

This morning, trying to wipe the sleep out of my eyes before setting about the daily tasks, I penned the following.

Before it could be published, news broke that Manchester United had moved swiftly to axe Jose Mourinho.

However, I still think it is worth a read, so please feel free:

Axing Mourinho Would Be An Expensive Move

After the poorest start to a Premier League season its inception, questions are starting to be asked about the future of Jose Mourinho.

The flamboyant Portuguese individual is in his third season at Old Trafford and history shows that Mourinho’s managerial career is littered with instances of the self-proclaimed Special One, not lasting past this particular milestone.

But, it is a tough call to make.

Axing a manager is, amongst other things, a costly experience, plus, there’s also the rigmarole associated with finding a suitable replacement.

After all, the question has to be asked, if Manchester United were to dispense with the services of Mourinho who would be the next incumbent of the managerial hot-seat.

But, returning to the financial aspect of the inference above, it is being reported, by the news vehicle, the Daily Record, that if the Manchester United hierarchy were to axe Mourinho, they’d face a bill of around £24 million, a huge fee.

However, that fee increases when you consider that a replacement has to be hired, no doubt on a comparable salary, pushing the total cost of the change in manager to around the £50 million mark.

But, is it now becoming a necessity to axe Mourinho or should we just blunder along playing the same football devoid of any inspirational moments?

You decide!
