Whilst Manchester United may have comfortably cruised into the last-16 of the Europa League, with a 4-0 aggregate win over Saint-Etienne, it wasn`t without cost on the injury front.

Both Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Michael Carrick were unfortunate enough to pick up injuries last night, with the injuries meaning they are very unlikely to be available for selection for the EFL Cup Final, against Southampton, at Wembley this Sunday.

Talking about the duo, after the match, Jose Mourinho had this to say to the media,

“They`re both out. I think no chance.

“A calf, a hamstring, even if minor, some fibres are damaged. I think they`re out – but this is based on my experience, not my medical knowledge.”

If injury does rule them out it will be a cruel blow for the duo, but with Manchester United chasing honours on four fronts still and with the games coming thick and fast injuries and suspensions are perhaps inevitable.

Time to see how deep our squad really is!
