At the launch of his autobiography, Ryan Giggs had plenty to say about the predicament his colleague, Wayne Rooney, finds himself in.

Rooney, the subject of many a tabloid article in recent weeks, has seen his idol status hit by recent revelations and is still, reputedly, reeling from the mauling the tabloid press have given him.

Ryan, in a show of support, spoke about living in the glare of the paparazzi commenting,

“When I was younger – `17, 18 or 19 – everything was going brilliantly. Then you hit a bit of bad form and they want to know who you are going out with, about your family history.”

“I`ve had it a few times. It`s not nice. You don`t like it at the time but you get thick skin and it helps you in the long run.”

Words that we`d hope young Wayne would take on board. But Giggs had a few words to say about a subject a certain Kevin ‘I`d just love it` Keegan touched on in his critical analysis of the situation, with Ryan explaining,

“It doesn`t matter whether you sell your wedding photos or not. The pressure footballers are under both on and off the pitch has got bigger.”

“If he didn`t sell his wedding photos, I think people would still be giving him stick.”

Of course they would, it`s a British trait to knock those at the top of their profession of their lofty pedestal!
