It`s very unusual for Sir Alex to miss a United match!

His presence on the touchline has become a regular feature of his tenure as the manager of Manchester United over the years.

Therefore his absence last night has kick-started the rumour mill big time.

Two theories have been presented in the tabloid media this morning with the first being that he had simply gone to Spain to spy on our Champions League group rivals, Valencia,

The other being that the trip was to view first-hand the nineteen year-old Atletico Madrid goalkeeper – David De Gea.

De Gea has impressed considerably in recent months and could well be viewed as the permanent replacement for the ageing Edwin van der Sar.

A rumour worth watching, we think so!
