The game didn`t possibly live up to expectations, too much hype and too much at stake probably.

But, in his post match reflections Sir Alex Ferguson seemed quite pleased with how things had gone last night, commenting,

“We had to play well. In these major games you want to perform. We did that, especially in the first half.”

“You have to play well against Arsenal. But we have been playing well and this was very good.”

“Arsenal came into it in the second half and pegged us back a bit but they did not create many good chances.”

Moving on to Wayne Rooney`s penalty, Sir Alex was left as bemused as the rest of us, remarking,

“It was an unusual penalty from Wayne. He normally keeps the ball down. I`ve never known him put one over the bar.”

“That gave Arsenal some impetus.”

“But our back four were fantastic, absolutely magnificent.”

Looking forward to a trip to West London, Sir Alex further added,

“Now we have a difficult game at Chelsea ahead on Sunday. That`s more important now.”

“We are starting to get there in terms of our form. It`s improving. If the back four continue to play like that, it will give us a great chance.”

And does Sunday not bring us the perfect chance to get some sort of revenge for being beaten twice by Chelsea last season?
