Sunday was the first occasion that Patrice Evra, since arriving at Old Trafford, hadn`t finished the season with a Premier League winners` medal.

Naturally the Frenchman, who was selected by his fellow professionals for the PFA team was disappointed.

In a media interview given in the aftermath of Sunday, Patrice explained where he believed the season had gone wrong, commenting,

“Congratulations to Chelsea.”

“If you win the League title it`s because you deserve to. But I feel we gave them the league.”

“We lost too many games. We shouldn`t have lost against Chelsea at home and then we dropped more points in the next game against Blackburn.”

“Since then we did a fantastic job but losing seven games was too many.”

“Right at the beginning of the season we lost at Burnley and we shouldn`t have lost that game.”

An accurate reflection of the way things panned out we`d say, but Patrice, as his place in the PFA eleven would indicate, did have a decent season and went on to discuss his own form and how he`ll try to get over the disappointment of not being a four time Premier League winner, explaining,

“I`m proud of my own contribution though. I`ve been at United for four years and this is the first season where I haven`t won the title.”

“On a sad day the only thing that keeps me going is the World Cup.”

Patrice! Talk to Wayne he may well have visions of making it a sad World Cup for you!
