According to injury expert Ben Dinnery, Manchester United defender Teden Mengi has suffered “a huge blow” as he aims to force his way in to Erik ten Hag’s plans.
Mengi started United’s mid-season friendlies against Cadiz CF and Real Betis, but it was in the fixture against Betis that brought about the bad news because he was substituted after just 19 minutes and had to be stretched off.
It looked as though the defender suffered a hamstring injury and speaking to Give Me Sport, Dinnery said that it is a “huge blow” for a young player who is trying to make his way into the first team.
Dinnery told GIVEMESPORT: “The injury in itself is bad enough. If you were to look at that in isolation and take that as a young player who is maybe on the fringes of that first team squad and hoping to make his mark, then that’s a huge blow. You don’t want to see a young player pick up an injury and certainly being stretchered off.”
