Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been included in the Sky Sport’s Team of the Tournament for the World Cup.

Maguire was part of the England squad that reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup, where they were beaten by France 2-1 at the Al Bayt Stadium last Saturday.

The United captain had a good tournament and was one of Gareth Southgate’s best players at the finals in Qatar as he returned back to the form that we saw previously in a United and England shirt.

Maguire played in all five matches for the Three Lions, and he helped them keep three clean sheets in the tournament against United States of America, which was arguably Maguire’s best game in the tournament and against Wales and Senegal.

During the game against Senegal at the Last 16 stage, Maguire recovered from a shaky start, in which he was caught in possession a few times, but he performed well in the second half to help England secure a 3-0 win and book their spot in the quarter-final.

In the game against France, Maguire put in a decent showing and hopefully from a United perspective, he can carry over his World Cup form over to the Old Trafford outfit, because his club team will need him this season.

Maguire, who was named in the UEFA team of tournament for EURO 2020, is expected to be back at training on Monday, where he is sure to come back more confident and focused as he looks to help United compete in all four competitions.
