Our interest in David De Gea, the young Spanish goalkeeper is becoming well documented.

Edwin van der Sar`s decision to end his playing career, this May, has prompted the media to speculate endlessly as to who United have lined up to succeed the Dutchman.

Today the inference is that Atletico Madrid are playing hard-ball and have declined a bid from Manchester United for a fee in the region of £17.5 million for the Spanish U21 keeper.

It remains to be seen whether United did actually bid for the player and if so whether they`d be prepared to increase their bid.
