Back in the days when the January transfer window was open, it was suggested by some sources that Manchester United might try and secure a deal for the Benfica centre-back, Victor Lindelof.

But no such move materialised and it seemed that Manchester United were prepared to wait until the summer to negotiate a deal for the highly-rated 22-year-old.

That plan may be about to come a cropper with the Manchester Evening News suggesting Manchester United could miss out all together when it comes to signing the Swedish international defender.

Our respected source is championing the inference that Manchester United`s ambitions could be blown away now that the Catalan giants of Barcelona are said to be showing an interest.

As that familiar song goes – “there may be trouble ahead.”

We can but wait and see!
