Yesterday we ran an article whereby we covered the apparent attempt by the Southampton midfielder, Morgan Schneiderlin, to exit Southampton pretty damn quick.

The twenty-five year-old midfielder has, so the story goes, informed Southampton that he wanted out inside five days and wasn`t going to accept their improved offer of something akin to £60,000 a week.

Yesterday (Thursday), the insinuation that out of the three clubs said to be genuinely interested in the player – Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United – Arsenal were the favourites to sign the player.

This morning though the story appears to have changed dramatically.

One leading member of the tabloid family is firmly insisting that Manchester United are very close to signing the 25-year-old for a fee said to be in the vicinity of £24 million.

However, it is also stated that if a deal to bring Schneiderlin to Old Trafford is concluded, it will mean the end of the chase to sign 30-year-old Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Which begs us to ask the question, which of the two would you prefer, an ageing German superstar with no experience of the Premier League or an emerging French talent that has already illuminated the Premier League?

I await your responses!
