Last week we mentioned that there were some very exciting items that belonged to George Best coming up for auction in Chester.

The reference auction took place yesterday and George`s personal items, sol don behalf of his estate, raised a grand sum of £250,000.

The highest priced item being, naturally, the 1968 European Cup Winners medal from that marvelous night at Wembley when George was instrumental in Benfica being beaten 4-1, that particular item raising £156,000

Talking about the sale, George`s sister, Barbara McNarry had this to say,

“I`m devastated to have to sell George`s stuff.”

“But I have to accept there is no alternative due to the financial status of the estate.”

Here at Vital Manchester united we can only hope that the memorabilia has gone to people who`ll treat it with the respect it deserves!
