I`ll admit that when the team sheet was made public for the visit of Manchester City on Saturday lunchtime, I was surprised that the name of Dimitar Berbatov wasn`t on it.

After all, is it the done thing to drop your leading scorer, especially when he`s so prolific at Old Trafford.

As the game wore on, the decision not to start with Dimitar looked stranger and stranger and it came as no surprise when he was finally introduced to help Wayne Rooney up front.

After the exciting 2-1 win, Sir Alex Ferguson spoke about the decision to go with Rooney and Rooney alone up front, remarking to the media,

“I had to sit Dimitar down. I didn`t enjoy it, to be honest. I said to him, ‘You`ll play your part` and he did. He played a great role when he came on.”

It just shows that Sir Alex and all that experience still keeps him head and shoulders above all others!
