After the comfortable 2-0 win, away to Swansea City in the EFL Cup 4th round, Manchester United were eager to see who they`d draw in the quarter-finals.

The draw was supposed to happen at 16:00 hours on Thursday afternoon, with it being broadcast live on Twitter.

But, due to something described as technical issues, the draw wasn`t completed for a further to hours, leaving everyone on tenterhooks.

Eventually, it was revealed that Manchester United had been drawn against the only Championship side left in the competition, Bristol City.

Bristol City, in the 4th round, thrashed troubled Crystal Palace 4-1, after being a goal down.

The tie, at Ashton Gate, will take place in the week commencing 16 December.

The remainder of the draw was:

? Chelsea v Bournemouth

? Arsenal v West Ham United

? Leicester City v Manchester City

Was it merely a coincidence that all the big-four left in the competition were kept apart?

You can form your own views over that inference.
