Although Edwin van der Sar has a clause in his contract that stipulates he`ll be awarded another season if he makes a certain number of appearances, United are rumoured to be on the look out for a new keeper.

At forty years of age, Edwin has been a fine servant in his latter years but nothing lasts forever and one leading tabloid is convinced that United have lined targeted the Ajax keeper, Maatren Stekelenburg, as his replacement.

Stekelenberg is twenty-seven years of age and replaced Van der Sar in the Dutch national side. Reports suggest that United had him watched last week when Holland played Finland.

At this stage there is no mention of any price or of any real contact with Ajax so just sit back and see what materialses!
