Fabio Capello released, as required by FIFA, his provisional squad of 30 for the 2010 World Cup today.

The listing contains the names of Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney but there are several notable United omissions.

There is no room for Gary Neville or Wes Brown with Fabio strangely preferring the option of bringing Jamie Carragher out of international retirement to cover at right back while the media hyped talk of Owen Hargreaves being named has proven to be misplaced with Owen, who has only played for 30 seconds this season, not surprisingly being left out.

It remains to be seen who`ll make the reduced squad of 23 that will be going to the tournament in South Africa!
