A bitter pill to swallow?

No not the defeat but perhaps the realisation that despite our status and our recent purchases there is something fundamentally wrong with our title challenge.

Yesterday, Andre Villas-Boas brought his Spurs side to Old Trafford, on the back of three wins, and unveiled some dramatic flaws in our team.

As early as the 2nd minute Spurs went ahead when the advancing Vertonghen put the visitors ahead. Matters then went from bad to worse when a burst of pace, from Bale, opened up our defence and it was a great finish to a great run that saw Spurs double their lead.

Going in 2-0 down at the break, there`s no doubt that Sir Alex Ferguson read his side the riot act and the now infamous hairdryer would have bee on full power.

But if we were looking for a way back into the game, it was to briefly come when Nani scored six minutes into the second half, but Spurs were like a dog with a bone and were not prepared to surrender that two goal advantage with Clint Dempsey getting his first goal in a Fulham shirt since leaving Fulham, a minute later.

Two goals in two minutes were soon to be three in three minutes when United grabbed a goal back through Kagawa but although there was a good half hour to go you just had this inevitable feeling, despite Sir Alex ranting after the game that the referee diddled us when it came to stoppage time, that it was going to be Spurs day and not ours!

Worried? I am!
