After losing the Manchester derby, on Sunday, it was imperative that Manchester United got back to winning ways against Bournemouth.

They did exactly that with a narrow 1-0 win but the performance given was far from impressive with Bournemouth pushing Manchester United all the way and almost grabbing a share of the spoils.

Although, after the derby day defeat, Mourinho had insisted he believed the title race was over, the boss retracted that view after the win remarking, that if he thought the title race was over then he would be,

“On holiday in Brazil or Los Angeles”

The only goal of the game came in the first half when Romelu Lukaku got back on the score-sheet, heading home a corner from Juan Mata.

Bournemouth had chances to equalise, the best of which saw David de Gea produce a decent save to keep out a cross-cum-shot from Ryan Fraser.

The closest Manchester United came to adding to their narrow lead was when a drive from Marcus Rashford crashed against the cross-bar.

Three more points in the bag but the gap, with Manchester City winning away to Swansea, remains as large as ever.
