Yesterday, as we covered all the speculation arising in what is a January transfer window that has yet to splutter into life, we covered the fact that Tottenham Hotspur wouldn’t be prepared to release Mauricio Pochettino even if Manchester United were to offer £50 million for the Argentine.
Our article, Click Here, inferred that Manchester United may have to look elsewhere to fill the void, on a permanent basis, caused by the axing of Jose Mourinho.
Well, it hasn’t taken long for the media to come up with another two interesting possibilities.
Firstly, the Telegraph, are reporting that Manchester United might be set to upset the nation by trying to lever Gareth Southgate away from the England post.
Now, whilst Southgate has been acclaimed as having done a good job on the international scene, there are those of us who are aware that, when in charge at Middlesbrough, he wasn’t a roaring success, perhaps he was still learning his trade.
Secondly, the Mirror, is of the belief that Manchester United could make a move for the Argentine currently in charge of Atletico Madrid, Diego Simeone.
Simeone has eighteen months left on his current contract and could, perhaps, be tempted to try something fresh.
Given the choice between the two, I’d definitely plump for Simeone, even though he has no previous Premier League experience, how about you?
