Having lost two more defenders to injury, on Tuesday night, in the narrow 2-1 win over Marseille that took United into the last eight of the Champions League, Sir Alex Ferguson has given an update on when we can expect to see them in action.

John O`Shea who limped off in the first half with a hamstring injury, to be replaced by Rafael, is expected to be on the sidelines for five weeks.

Rafael, his replacement, who also limped out of the action in the second half, is expected to be out for a period of two to three weeks.

The prognosis for the latter, therefore; is significantly better than that for the former.
