This Sunday Is A Must-Win Game If Title Aspirations Are To Be Maintained

|

This Sunday, in the late kick-off and broadcast by Sky Sports, Manchester United make the short trip to the Etihad Stadium, to take on their near-neighbours, Manchester City.

It is a fixture loaded with tradition and with an intense rivalry.

But, this Sunday, I believe it has an added edge.

After a slow start to the season, I believe it is a fixture that Manchester United just have to win if they are to have, in Mourinho’s third season with the club, any chance of winning the Premier League title.

As it stands, Manchester United are 9 points adrift of the reigning Premier League title holders, even my basic level of maths can work out that a defeat, at the Etihad Stadium, will leave United 12 points adrift of their neighbours, closing that gap would be almost impossible.

If the fixture were to end in a draw, it’d be a kind of status quo with the gap remaining at 9 points.

However, a win for Manchester United would close that gap to just 6 points leaving Jose Mourinho’s side very much in the race for the title.

But, how do you see this game ending?

Please take a brief moment to vote in our latest poll (below), which will give us a great guide as to your expectation levels ahead of this fantastic derby.

For the record books, I reckon that to win at the Etihad Stadium for a second successive season, would be a tall order, but it’s also a tall order I reckon we’ll achieve, therefore I’m tipping United to win 2-1.
