Opinion: This Potential Purchase Would Prove The Ideal Signing For Manchester United

|

This summer I’m probably not alone when I say I’m expecting a major revamp of the Manchester United squad.

If not finishing in the top four was a hard cross to bear, the manner in which the team capitulated towards the back end of the season caused serious questions to be asked about the future of those who lacked the heart and the desire to push us across the most important of lines.

This summer it has to be a case of trusting Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s judgement, the rebuilding process will have been set out in talks between the boss and the Old Trafford hierarchy and although we expect speculation to be rife as to who will be joining the club, only the select few will know who the true targets are on the Manchester United summer wish-list.

Today, one possible target has emerged as somebody who is interesting Manchester United with the Times, inferring that United are considering making an approach to Tottenham Hotspur for Eric Dier.

Still just 25-years-of-age, Dier is mentioned as being the ideal player for the holding role in midfield, possibly anchoring a quartet sat in front of what we hope will be a revamped, stoic defence.

Now, just mentioning doing business with Tottenham Hotspur is sure to attract howls of derision from those that support the North London club, but my view is that Dier would be ideal for that role at our club.

Our starting eleven is crying out for a mobile, powerful, combative player who is able to earn possession of the ball in dangerous areas whilst also offering protection to the centre of the defence.

Throw into the mix the fact that Dier is quite capable of getting the odd goal or two, especially from corners, and I say go get that man!

But, as I said earlier, it remains to be seen whether Eric Dier is on that wish-list we discussed in the opening stages of this article, we can but wait and see.
